NYC Cabs May Be Going Electric

We all know that cabs run the streets in NYC. Many are gas powered older model cars that have taken a beating in the city streets stop and go traffic. Cabs burn more gas because of the nature of their use so Mayor Bloomberg is trying to get more electric cabs on the road.
The car NYC picked for the pilot test is the Nissan LEAF. Since electric cabs have not been thoroughly street tested yet, the city of New York is giving the LEAF a chance to prove itself in the challenging cab like conditions.
Currently, Nissan and NYC are looking for eligible owner-drivers and fleet operators to help launch the cutting-edge pilot. Nissan will give selected drivers a new Nissan LEAF to use with their existing taxicab medallion. All they ask for in return is feedback - both from their perspective as the driver and from their passengers. This agreement will last up to a year. After 12 months have passed, participants may be given the option to keep the LEAF. Only, at that time, they will likely be asked to enter a lease or rental agreement.
If the cars perform well, Bloomberg is hoping to have an all electric cab system up and running by next year.
Crystal Nissan was very excited to hear about this development. Even though we're located in Homosassa, FL we agree with Mayor Bloomberg that the Nissan LEAF is the best choice for the job. While we wait to see if the Nissan LEAF cab fleet gets the go ahead, come down to Crystal Nissan today to view all the latest Nissan models, including the Nissan LEAF.
