Nissan Unveils New Pathfinder Design

The family-friendly Nissan Pathfinder is getting a new look next year. Very recently, Nissan premiered its new 2013 concept for the Pathfinder at the Detroit Auto Show this week, but the concept is almost identical to the version that will hit showroom floors around the nation, like the one at Crystal Nissan, located in Homosassa, FL. One of the twenty redesigned or new products Nissan plans to bring to the U.S. over the course of the next two years, the new Pathfinder is quite a sight to behold.

Long gone is the body-on-frame design that once defined this Nissan SUV. In its place is a new unitized, less boxy design. This isn't the best change to the new Nissan vehicle, however. Although the Pathfinder has always been known for its great towing capacity and sporty nature, it's also never had very good fuel economy ratings. To remedy this issue, Nissan has lightened the Pathfinder's weight by placing a continuously variable automatic transmission and smaller-displacement V6 engine in the mid-size SUV, securing a 25 percent increase in combined fuel economy, while only slightly decreasing power. The new Pathfinder will likely borrow a variety of features from the Nissan Murano. It will feature a new 4WD system and a comfortable, spacious cabin.
